This was an excellent piece on 60 minutes on egg freezing. There are many clinics where the cost of egg freezing is about $7,000 or less plus medications. If eggs are frozen between age 20 and 30 years each egg has about a 15% live birth potential. At age 38 years that drops to about 5%. These calculations are a bit challenging to do because they require factoring back in excess embryos that remain in storage after a live birth occurs.

Factors that impact egg freezing success include the skill of the embryologist that freezes and thaws the eggs, the embryo transfer protocol, and the embryo transfer procedure.
